Today, I’d like to start by telling you a story. It’s a story I read in my youth Bible and I think it is worth sharing with everyone.
今日はあるストーリーからスタートしたいと思います。若者向けの聖書からとったストーリーです。
James volunteered to help at a community shop, where he sorted used clothing and helped people pick out things they needed for free.
ジェムズさんは街のコミュニーティーショップで服を並べたり、服をもらいに来た人々に無料で服を選んであげるボランティアをしていた。
One day, as he was walking home he passed a market stall and saw one of the families that often came to the community shop. So, he started talking to them. That’s when he noticed something – the clothes they were selling were the same clothes they had been given for free. ‘That’s not right’ he thought to himself and quickly ended the conversation and headed home.
ある日、家へ帰る途中、彼がコミュニティーショップによく来る家族を市場の屋台前に見た。彼らに話しをかけた。話す途中にジェムズがあることに気づいた。彼らがその屋台で売っていた服はすべて無料でもらっていた服でした。「これはダメです」と心に思ったジェムズはすぐさまその場を後にした。
The next day, he took up the matter with his manager. ‘That’s not right’, he said, ‘they are ripping us off. We gave them the clothes so that they could wear them not sell them’. Calmly, the manager replied, ‘Well, it seems they needed the clothes either way. They needed the clothes to sell for cash so that they could buy other things. Besides, we help these people because we care about them, not because they always respond the way we want them to’.
次の日、コミュニティーショップのマネジャーさんに前の日のことを報告した。「彼らが私たちを騙しているよ。その服を着るためにあげたじゃない。売るための服じゃないよね」とジェムズが怒り気味で言った。すると、マネジャーは「いずれにしよ、彼らはその服を必要とした。その服をお金に変えるために必要だった。そこで得たお金で、彼らは本当に必要なものを買っただろう。私たちは彼らのことを大事に思っているから、助けるのだ。私たちが望むとおりに反応するために助けているのではないよ」
‘It sounds risky’, James said.
「それはあまりにもリスクが高いと思うけど」とジェムズが言った。
‘Love always is’, answered the Manager.
「愛というのは、いつもそうですよ」とマネジャーが答えた
What’s the moral of this story?
このストーリーのモラルはどこにあるでしょうか。
The Manager helped James to see that their love wasn’t something people should have to earn.
そのマネジャーがジェムズに知って欲しかったことは「自分らの愛は、人々が勝ち得るものではない」ということです。
God’s Love is like that too.
神様の愛も、似たようなものです。
Very often as Christians, I think we falter in loving people. Don’t get me wrong! We love our families, we love our friends, we love our church members and we find it easy to love other Christians. But, what about the ‘others’?
クリスチャンとして、人を愛することによく決心が揺るぐ場合があると思います。誤解しないでください。家族や友人、教会の仲間や他のクリスチャンを簡単に愛することができますが、そうでない人の場合はどうですか。
If God had chosen to love only his chosen people the Jews, we wouldn’t be here today, would we?
もし神様が自らの選民、つまり、ユダヤ人以外の人を愛する心を持っていなかったら、私たちはここにいなかったと思います。
So, Are we ready and willing to show love to those beyond these walls?
従って、私たちもこの教会の外側にいる人々を愛する心を持てますか。
Members of MIC, friends, You are here today because God has called you to be here. Some of you may know that and some of you may not. I have often shared this in my previous messages. God has a plan for each and every one of us. That plan is not hindered by who we were or what we did. God loves us unconditionally. That’s why God is God.
箕面国際教会の皆さん、私たちは今日、この教会にいることは偶然なことではありません。神様が計画したことです。その計画を理解している方もいれば、まだ、把握していない方もいると思います。私は過去のメッセージにも何回か同じことを繰り返してきました。それは「神様は私たちのために、それぞれの計画を与えています。その計画は私たちの過去に全く関わりがありません。神様は全員を条件なしで、愛しています。だからこそ、神は神です。
God has put you here in Japan for a reason. Yes, I’m sure that He wanted you to be a part of the MIC family. But I believe that we are all here (especially those who have come from other countries) because Japan is our mission, the Japanese people are the people that God has called us to love. By showing them our Love and sharing with them the Gospel, we can draw them nearer to God. And we can not love someone unless we know them, right? So, let’s start at that – Let us in our own way, make it a priority to reach out and get to know the Japanese people around us. We can start at work or at university. Or even in the coffee shop.
ここ日本にみなさまがいることに理由があります。もちろん、この教会の一員になって欲しかったこともあります。しかし、それ以上に、（特に海外から来た人々に関して）、日本は私たちの任命だと思います。神様を知らない「日本人」を愛して、福音を伝えることは、私たちの任命です。そして、「知らない人」を愛することはできません。だから、身の回りの日本人をもっと知ることからスタートしましょう。学校であれ、大学であれ、仕事場であれ、カフェであれ、自分がいるところから、自分なりに人に声をかけて、「愛する」心を持って、つながって行きましょう。
Please remember that God’s mercy is available to everyone. Christian and Non-Christian! We serve a God of Mercy.
ここで、覚えて欲しいことは、「神の愛と哀れみ」はみんなのためにあります。クリスチャンもクリスチャンでない人も。私たちは「愛と哀れみに満ちた神」を仕えます。
Very often I come across Christians who because they know the Gospel and believe the Good news, tend to have an indifferent attitude towards others (especially non-believers that don’t). If God is ready and willing to show mercy to all, then we as Christians should not be thinking
福音を理解して、神に信仰を置いているクリスチャンの方がよくクリスチャンでない方に対して、冷たい態度を取っています。私はそういう態度を理解できません。神様が私たち全員に対して、「哀れみ」を見せているなら、私たちクリスチャンもそういう心を持たないといけません。
クリスチャンの人からこのような質問をよく耳にします。

‘But is He a Christian?’
「でも、彼はクリスチャンですか」 -
‘But their family is actually Buddhist’
「でもね、その家族が実は仏教信者です」 -
‘How long is it going to take before She believes in Christ’?
「彼女はキリストを信じるまでにあとどれくらい時間かかるかな」 -
‘Shouldn’t he start coming to church?’
「もうそろそろ、彼が教会に通うべきと思わない」
No, I think we are asking the wrong questions. Instead, when those questions come into your head, ask yourself this ‘What am I, as a Christian, going to do to save him or her? What can I do to help that person come to know Christ?’
私にはこういう質問をしている人は間違えていると思います。もし、これらの質問が浮かんできたら、まず、聞くべき質問は、「クリスチャンとして、私はその方を助けるために何ができますか」「その方にイエス様のことを私はどうやって伝えますか」と思います。
Don’t question a non-believer’s attitude! Question your own! We have been called to minister to them! As Christians, we set the example. We are the Bible they will read first. We are the Jesus they are going to see first.
クリスチャンでない方の態度に疑問を持つ前に、自分の態度を見ましょう。クリスチャンとして、責任を持つのは、私たちです。人生の模範を見せるのは私たちです。彼らにとって、まず聖書になるのは私たちです。彼らが初めて見るイエス様私たちです。
Remember, God has put us here for a reason and in the very same way, God has put the ‘non-believers’ around us for a reason. He wants us to reach out to them.
私たちがここにいることが神の計画通りと信じているなら、自分の周りにクリスチャンでない人がいることも神様の計画通りだと覚えて欲しいです。彼らに福音を伝えることが私たちの任命です。
God has chosen you to be here and God has chosen Me to be here. Just as God has chosen Pastor Joseph and his family to be here and to lead us on to the next step of our MIC journey.In the same way as God has chosen this time for both Pastors Andrew and Mike to move on to the next step of their Mission.
神様は皆様、一人一人を選んでここに連れてきました。そして、4月からヨセフ牧師がこの教会を導いていくことも神様の計画通りです。アンドリューとマイク牧師も日本を去って、母国に帰っていくことも神様の計画通りです。
God, whose wisdom and knowledge have no end! God, whose wisdom and knowledge is far far beyond our human understanding.
神様の知恵と知識に限界がありません。神様の知恵と知識は私たちの理解をはるかに超えているものです。
So, if you are sitting here with doubts about the Christian faith, or doubts about following Jesus, or doubts as to whether God has called you or not, or doubts as to whether you are good enough or not. Please keep this in mind.
だから、クリスチャンであることやキリストを信じることや、自分が神様に選べれたことに疑問をまだ持っていれば、これを覚えて欲しいです。
Your doubts and fears will not go away if you try to understand God. They will only be cleared when you learn to Trust God and put your Faith in Him.
あなたの疑いや恐れは神を理解しようとすることによって消えていかない。それらは神を信用して、神に信仰を持つことによって消えていく！

Change My Heart, O God. Make it ever new. Change My Heart O God, May I be like you. Thou art the Potter, I am the Clay, Mold me and Make me after they will, As I am waiting, yielded and Still
