Part 1 – Saved By Grace
恵みによって救われる

We continue our walk through the books of the Bible and today arrive very near the end of the Bible at the book of Jude. Like the letters immediately before it, Jude is a very short letter – one chapter long – and very much to the point.
今日も聖書の書を見ていきます。聖書のいちばん終わりに近づいてきました。今日、学ぶ書はユダの手紙です。すぐ一つ前の手紙のようにユダの手紙もとても短い手紙です。1章だけで内容はとても的を得ています。
We can easily divide the letter into two sections, which is what I will be doing this morning. There is a middle section – which I will look at first – bracketed by a beginning and end, which sort of form their own section.
この手紙は2つに分けられるので、今朝はそのように2つに分けてお話します。まず見ていく中間区分で始めと終わりに分けられてます。
Jude begins the middle section in verse 4, when he addresses/rebukes false teaching that has come into the church.
ユダの手紙は4節の中間から、教会に入ってきた偽の教えを対処する/非難することから始まります。
People – supposed believers – were coming into the church and saying that because you have already been saved by grace and your whole life is covered by God’s grace, then whatever sins you commit have already been atoned for. Therefore, their logic concluded, feel free to live a life of sin because it’s already been paid for.
信者だといわれる人たちが教会にやってきて、恵みによって救われたのだから、人生のすべてが神の恵みによっておおわれているのだから、どんな罪を犯してももうすでに贖われていると言います。よって、すでに代価を支払われたのだから人生自由に罪を犯してもかまわないというのが彼らの理屈です。
Paul addressed this nonsense when he wrote this to the church in Rome:
パウロはローマの教会にこのばかげた主張に対してこのように書いています。
James also indirectly addressed this nonsense when he wrote in his letter that:

Those who confess faith in Christ yet continue to deliberately live in sin, show that their faith is dead. This is worth clarifying. It’s not to say that if we sin as Christians, then we’re out. Not at all! That’s the beauty of the riches of the grace of God. We can fall in sin – and we often do – and the confession of a repentant heart that has been given to Christ will be forgiven and set free every time. We have that assurance.
キリストを信じる信仰告白をしてまだなお罪を意図的に犯し続けている人たちの信仰は死んでいるということになります。このことは明確にしておく価値があります。クリスチャンである私たちが罪を犯せば、もう終わりだと言っているのではありません。全くそうではありません。神の恵みの豊かさの素晴らしさがここにあるのです。私たちは罪におちいることがあります。私たちにはよくあることです。キリストにむけて悔い改めた心の告白によっていつも赦され自由にされるのです。私たちにはその確信があります。
But for those with an unrepentant heart who believe that they can live any way they want and get away with it because of grace, James says that that person’s faith is no faith at all.
しかし、悔い改めずに、恵みがあるからと言って、好き勝手な生き方をし、ただですむと思っている人たちに対して、ヤコブはそのような人の信仰は全く信仰ではないと言っています。
To Paul’s facetious question, “Shall I keep on sinning?” (Romans 6:1), Jude answers in very strong terms: those who do keep on sinning are “like unreasoning animals – these are the very things that destroy them.” v10
パウロのおどけた質問“罪を犯し続けるほうがよいのでしょうか？”に対して、ユダはとても強い口調で答えています：罪を犯し続けている人は、まるで動物のように、したいほうだいのことをして、自分のたましいを永遠の滅びへと追いやったのです。
Now, some of you might not be sure. You might wonder if your repentance is genuine, if it is acceptable to God. How can you know? You might wonder: Does the persistent sin in your life render your faith dead?
ここで、自信がない人もいることでしょう。自分の悔い改めが心からのものであるか、神に受け入れられているのかよく分からないかもしれません。どうすれば分かるのでしょうか？何度も犯してしまう罪が信仰を死なせてしまうだろうかと思っているかもしれません。
In response to that, and in preparation for communion now, I offer two things. Firstly, repent. That’s why we’re here. We’re here to make our lives right before God. We’re here to receive forgiveness for our sins. We are here to receive the assurance of our salvation. And that begins with a truly repentant heart. So repent now! Through the prophet Ezekiel, God begs you: “Turn! Turn! Why will you die?”(Ezekiel 33:11) Repent with a sincere and grateful heart.
その質問への答えと聖餐式の準備として、2つのことを提案します。まずは、悔い改めなさい。ここにいるのはそのためです。神の前で人生を正しくするためにここにいるのです。罪の赦しを受けるためにここにいるのです。救いの確信を受けるためにここにいるのです。そしてそれは真に悔い改めた心から始まるのです。ですから今、悔い改めなさい！預言者エゼキエルを通して、神はあなたに懇願しています：“悔い改めよ、悔い改めよ、なぜあなたがたは死のうとするのか？”（エゼキエル33:11）心から感謝の気持ちを持って悔い改めなさい。
Secondly, be sure to live your life from this day on in such a faithful manner that you will never again have to question the validity of your faith.
2番目に、今日から自分の信仰の正当性を疑わなくてもいいような忠実な生き方をするようにしなさい。
Jude assures us that those who repent and turn to Christ in faith are saved by the grace of God through Jesus our Lord. Let’s proclaim that as we prepare to take the elements of communion.
ユダは信仰をもって悔い改め、キリストに立ち返る者は、私たちの主、イエスを通して神の恵みによって救われると確信させてくれています。聖餐式にあずかるにあたってこのことを宣言していきましょう。
Part 2 – Your Faith is Worth Fighting For あなたの信仰は戦う価値のあるもの
That section in the middle of Jude on the grace of God and living righteously – “producing fruit in keeping with repentance” (Mat 3:8), as John the Baptist says – is bracketed by some very encouraging teaching on the nature of our faith.
神の恵みと、バプテスマのヨハネが言っているように“悔い改めにふさわしい実を結び”正しく生きることに関して書かれているユダの手紙の真中の部分は、私たちの信仰の本質にとても励みとなる教えによってまとめられています。
The Christian faith is worth contending for, just as your personal faith is worth fighting for. Where there is error or licence from within the church that would damage our faith, and the name of Jesus, we must be prepared to stand against it. And where there is opposition to our faith from outside the church – and my goodness there is sure a lot of it in the world today – never be ashamed of the gospel. Never be ashamed of Jesus.
クリスチャンの信仰は、あなた個人の信仰のために戦う価値があるように、勇敢に戦う価値があるものです。教会の中で私たちの信仰やイエスの御名に害を与えるような間違いや気ままな行為があれば、それに立ち向かう準備ができていなければなりません。そして教会の外から私たちの信仰に反することがあれば（今の世の中にはそれがまあなんとたくさんあることでしょう）、福音を決して恥だと思ってはいけません。イエスを決して恥だと思ってはいけません。
Never be ashamed of the gospel of Jesus.
イエスの福音を決して恥と思わないでください。
In this world, you will be called names if you live your faith. People will say you are wrong. They will say you are deluded. They will say you are narrow-minded. They will call you bigoted. They will call you crazy. They will stop inviting you out. They will mutter behind your back. They will humiliate you in front of others.
この世では、信仰によって生きれば、罵られます。あなたは間違っていると言われるでしょう。だまされていると言われるでしょう。心が狭いと言われるでしょう。偏見の塊だと言われるでしょう。頭がおかしいと言われるでしょう。招待してくれなくなるでしょう。陰口をたたかれるでしょう。人前で辱しめられるでしょう。
So when you are teased or mocked or rejected for your faith, don’t give up, don’t dim your light, don’t be discouraged. You’re in good company. Quietly, respectfully, gently, knowledgeably, lovingly, contend for the faith that has been entrusted to you.
信仰のゆえに、からかわれたり、バカにされたり、受け入れてもらえなかったりしても、あきらめてはいけません。明かりを暗くしないでください。がっかりしてはいけません。仲間がいるからです。静かに、敬意を持って、優しく、豊富な知識を持って、心から、あなたに託された信仰のために戦いましょう。
Stop and think about that. God has entrusted the Christian faith, His gospel, to you. Paul describes this as a treasure that has been placed in clay pots. We are like ordinary clay pots – nothing special or fancy about us – yet we have this great treasure, the treasure of the gospel of Jesus in our hearts. God has entrusted His Word to us. Handle with care!
考えてみてください。神はあなたにクリスチャン信仰と福音を託されました。パウロはこのことを土の器に入れられた宝だと表現しています。私たちはごく普通の土の器のようなものです。何も特別なものでも豪華なものでもありません。ですがこの素晴らしい宝、イエスの福音の宝を心の中に持っています。神は御言葉を私たちに託されました。大切に扱ってください！
And that’s why Jude writes at the end of his letter, in the closing bracket of teaching, that you are to “build yourselves up in your most holy faith” (Jude 20). You are not to think of your faith as meagre or small or of little worth. Jude says that what you have been given is not just ‘some’ faith, it’s not even a holy faith. Your faith is a “most holy faith” . I want you to understand how exceptional that is. That’s how God cherishes your faith. Remember that, be affected by it and build it up appropriately.
だからユダは手紙の最後に、教えのまとめの終わりにこう書いたのです。今のきよい信仰を土台として、自分の生活をしっかり打ち立てなければなりません。（ユダの手紙20）自分の信仰をちっぽけなものやほとんど価値がないものだと思ってはいけません。あなたに与えられているのはただ少しの信仰だけではなく、聖い信仰でもありません。あなたの信仰は最も聖い信仰なのです。これがどれほど格別なことであるか分かってほしいのです。それほど神はあなたの信仰を大切に思っているのです。このことを忘れずに、心にとめて、ふさわしく築き上げていきましょう。
One way that we build our faith, Jude says in the very same verse, is by “praying in the Spirit”. Prayer is so important in building up our faith. Real, personal, passionate prayer. Prayer is at the heart of our relationship with God.
信仰を築き上げる一つの方法として、ユダは同じ節で“聖霊の力と励ましを受けて祈り”と言っています。祈りは信仰を築き上げるうえでとても大切です。本当の、個人的な、熱のこもった祈りです。祈りは私たちと神の関係の中心です。
If you have the gift of tongues, then pray in tongues to build up your faith. If you don’t have this gift, then pray in communion with (or in the realm of ) the Holy Spirit, or pray in the power of the Holy Spirit. These things are available to all believers. Build up your most holy faith through prayer.
異言を語る賜物が与えられているなら、信仰を築き上げるために異言を語って祈りなさい。この賜物が与えられていないのなら、聖霊と一体となって（聖霊の領域で）祈りなさい。聖霊の力のうちに祈りなさい。そうすることは信じる者すべてにできることです。祈りを通してあなたの最も聖い信仰を築き上げなさい。
In verse 22, Jude reminds us to be compassionate to those who doubt. We’re told to warn and then stay away from those who deliberately live a wayward or divisive life. Have nothing to do with them. But to those who doubt, to those who struggle, to those who are weak in the faith…have mercy, be compassionate and lead them into a saving faith.
22節では、ユダは、神の真理を疑う人々を心にかけなさいと私たちに言い聞かせています。まず警告し、それでもなお勝手な対立するような生き方をしている者からは離れるようにと言われています。そんな人たちと何の関係も持ってはいけません。しかし、疑う者、格闘している者、信仰の弱い者には、憐れみをかけなさい、思いやりをもって救いの信仰へと導いてあげなさい。
Jude finishes his letter with what is probably the most beautiful doxology in the whole Bible, and I will use this to conclude today’s teaching:
ユダはこの手紙を聖書の中でおそらく最も美しい頌栄で終わらせています。なので私もそれを用いて今日の説教を終えることにします。
