Today I would like to encourage you with 7 reasons to fall in love with God (again).

He made you. 神はあなたを造られた
Let’s dispel some myths first.
最初に、次のような作り話について、疑いをはっきり取り去っておきましょう。
You are not an accident. あなたは偶然にできたのではありません。
You are not an animal. あなたは動物ではありません。
You are not a clone. あなたはクローンではありません。
Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

God has plans, He has a purpose for your life. The whole of Romans 9 is an essay on how God raises people for a purpose. We are called according to His purposes. There is a high, holy calling on each of our lives. We are to find it, understand it and enjoy it.
神はご計画をもっておられます。神はあなたの人生に目的を持っておられます。ローマ人への手紙の９章全ての中にこう書かれています。神は人を目的を持って作られた。私たちは神様の目的によって召される。清い、尊い目的によって私たちの一人一人が召される。私たちはそのような神の目的を探すため、理解するため、楽しむ為に存在します。
The book of Genesis emphasises that, unlike the animals, we are made in God’s image.
創世記にはこのように書かれています。動物のような形ではなく、私たちは神のかたちに造られました。Despite what some textbooks might say, you are not an animal.

You are a spiritual being created in the image of God for the purpose of fellowshipping with Him and walking with Him.

Failure to understand that – believing the lie that we are no more than animals – explains why 50% of my students would choose to save the life of their dog over the life of a neighbour if they could only save one.

Created in the image of God, we have many (but obviously not all) of the attributes of God (and obviously not in their fullness): knowledge, wisdom, will, freedom, holiness, mercy etc etc.
私たちは神様を形どって作られ、全てではありませんが、たくさんの神様の性質をもっています。知識、知恵、意志、自由、清さ、憐れみなどという性質をもっています。
We are not clones. We have been uniquely designed. We are the fruit of God’s artistry.
私たちは遺伝的に複写されたクローンではありません。私たちは一人ひとり特別に造られました。
The Psalms tell us that we have been “fearfully and wonderfully made” (139:14)
詩編には、”恐ろしいほどにすばらしく造られた”と書かれています。
Rejoice in your uniqueness, your purpose and your value.
あなたらしさ、あなたに与えられた目的と価値を喜びましょう。
We are to wake up in the morning and go to sleep at night saying ‘Thank you God for this wonderful gift of life you have given me.’

Knowing this, who wouldn’t fall in love with God again?
これらのことを知っていながら、神様のことを好きにならずにはいられないと思いませんか？
2. He knows you. 神はあなたを知っておられる
There is a truth that can be either absolutely wonderful and absolutely terrifying, depending on your relationship with God.
しかし、神があなたを知っていることは、あなたと神様の関係次第で、素晴らしいことにもなりえますし、恐ろしいことにもなりえます。
Psalm 139 tells us that
God searches us, He knows our comings and goings, He knows where we are at any given time, He knows our thoughts, He knows our words even before we speak them, He knows the very depths of our hearts.
詩編の１３９章には、こう書かれています。神は私たちを探り、私たちの出ると入るとを知っておられます。私たちがどこにいるかを知っておられ、私たちの思い、私たちの言葉を知っておられます。（しかも、私たちがこれから話そうとする言葉を知っておられます。）私たちの心の奥深くを知っておられます。
For those who don’t know God, this can be mortifying. For those who know God and rest in Him, this is the ultimate comfort.
神様のことを知らない人たちにしてみれば、神様があなたのことを何でも知っているということは、さも悔しい話でしょう。しかし神様のことを知っている人たちにとっては、それは究極の慰めです。
Chris Tomlin nailed it when he sang, “You see the depths of my heart and You love me the same, you are amazing God.”
クリス トムリンはある歌の中でこう歌っています。「あなたは私の心の奥底を知っている。そして、分け隔てなく愛してくださる。あなたは驚くばかりの神である。」と、まさに言い得ていると思います。
Psalm 121: 5 The Lord watches over you… 7 he will watch over your life; 8 the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
5 主はあなたを守る者、7 またあなたの命を守られる。
8 主は今からとこしえに至るまで、あなたの出ると入るとを守られるであろう。
Understanding this, who wouldn’t fall in love with God again?
これらのことがわかっていながら、神様のことを好きにならずにはいられないと思いませんか？
3. He Provides for you 神はあなたを養ってくださる
There is the provision of daily bread. 日々の糧が与えられています。
I hope you say grace before eating every night because ultimately it is always God who puts food on your table.
みなさんは毎晩、食前の祈りをしていることと思います。なぜなら、神様が私たちに食事を準備してくださっているからです。
As He provides for the birds of the air and the flowers of the field, so He provides for you and if you lack anything, ask HIm and He will provide it for you.
神様が空には鳥を、草原には花を咲かせてくださるように、わたしたちにも備えてくださります。もし、あなたが何かを必要としているなら聞いてください。神様はあなたの為に備えてくださります。
But there is a greater provision that we should always carry with us.
しかし、私たちがいつも心にとめておかなかればならない、大きな神様からの備えがあります。
There is the provision of salvation. 救いが与えられています。
God gave us food and drink. He gave us clothes. He gave us houses to live in. But He also gave us His Son so that by believing in Him we can enter eternal life.
神様は私たちに食べ物、飲み物を与えてくださいました。着るものを与えてくださいました。住む家を与えてくださいました。そして、神様はご自分の子、息子を私たちに与えてくださいました。そうすれば、私たちが神を信じることによって、永遠の命を得ることができるからです。
More than this, He gave us His holy, living Word to sustain us daily.
さらには、神は日々私たちを養う聖なる生きた御言葉を与えてくださいました。
Just a thought here: how many times a day do you sustain yourself with food (eat)?
ちょっとした質問ですが、あなたは一日に何回食事を生活に取り入れますか？
How many times a day do you sustain yourself with the Word of God?
あなたは一日に何回、神様の言葉を生活に取り入れますか？
Do you have the balance of God’s provision right? Are you obese in one area and emaciated in another? Pray about that.
神様からの備えを受けとるバランスはとれていますか？取り過ぎで太りすぎたり、逆に、痩せすぎたりしていませんか？このことについて祈ってみてください。
The writer of Hebrews was under some really heavy inspiration when he wrote this about God’s provision:
ヘブライ人への手紙を書いた人物は、神の備えについて書いている時、相当、霊的に感化されて書いたようです。
In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways, 2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe. 3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. Hebrews 1:1-3

This leads us to our 4th reason for falling in love with God again:
次のことは、神を愛するようになる４つ目の理由になります。
4. He forgives you. 神はあなたを赦してくださる
It’s here that we really come to see the extraordinary patience, gentleness and kindness of God.
ここでは、私たちは神の真の忍耐と、穏やかさ優しさを見ることができます。
His mercy and grace are demonstrated in the depths of His ability and willingness not just to forgive but to provide the means for our forgiveness.
神の憐れみと恵みはただ赦すだけでなく、赦す手段を備えてくださる能力と意思の深さに現れています。
God’s forgiving nature is wrapped up in the famous proclamation of His identity in
神の寛容な性質は、出エジプト記の有名な宣言の中にこのように書かれています。
Exodus 34:5-7:
Then the Lord came down in the cloud and stood there with him and proclaimed his name, the Lord. 6 And he passed in front of Moses, proclaiming, “The Lord, the Lord, the compassionate and gracious God, slow to anger, abounding in love and faithfulness,7 maintaining love to thousands, and forgiving wickedness, rebellion and sin. Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished; he punishes the children and their children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation.”

The only reason you can take communion today is because God purified you from your sin through the death of Jesus.
今日でも私たちが神と対話ができる唯一の理由は、神があなたの罪をイエスの死によって清めてくださったからです。
At the end of the movie “Saving Private Ryan”, as Tom Hanks character gives his life so that Matt Damon’s character might live, he says to him, “Earn this”.
「プライベートライアン」という映画があります。その映画の最後に、主演のトムハンクスがマットデイモンが演じるライアンを生きながらえさせる為に、自らの命を犠牲にします。そして、トムハンクスはライアンにこう言います。「これを受け取れ」
They are moving words but they have no place in the gospel story.
他にもたくさんの感動的な言葉はあります。しかし、福音の書には全く書かれていません。
You can’t earn or pay back the forgiveness that Jesus has provided but you can receive it with thanks and you can spend the rest of your life loving Him for it.
イエスが備えてくださった赦しを自分の力で得ようとしたり、お返しをすることはできません。しかしその赦しを感謝をもって受け取り、残りの人生、神を愛して過ごすことができます。
Receiving this, who wouldn’t fall in love with God again?
これを受け取っていながらにして、神様のことを好きにならずにはいられないと思いませんか？
5. He empowers you. 神はあなたに力を与えてくださる
God created us, knows us intimately, provides for us, and saves us. Isn’t that enough?
Apparently not.
神は私たちをお造りになられました。そして、私たちのことを親密に知ってくださっておられます。備えてくださいます。救ってくださいます。もう、十分ではないでしょうか？
しかし、実はそれ以上のものがもっとあるようです。
He also calls us and empowers us for that call.
神は私たちを召し、その召しのために力を与えてくださいます。
And if you’re anything like me you will respond by saying something like, “God, I think you’ve got the wrong guy. I’m just your average joe. I’m not particularly spiritual. I don’t have much faith. I’m not ministry material.”
もし、あなたが私と同じように思っているなら、こんなことを言ってしまうかもしれません。
神様、あなたは私を誰かと間違っておられますよ。私はただの平凡な人間です。私は特別霊的なわけでもありませんし、誠実さも、さほど持ち合わせていません。私は宣教には向いていませんよ。
Moses tried to get away with this approach, so did Gideon , so did even the great prophet Isaiah before God cleansed him. Jonah actually went one step further and just ran away.
モーセとギデオン、イザヤのような偉大な予言者でさえ、自分はふさわしくないからと逃げ出そうとしました。ヨナは一歩踏み出そうとしましたが、やはり逃げ出してしまいました。
And if you’re like me (and some of those other guys), the reason you say this is because you are looking at yourself and not God.

But it is God’s good pleasure to take the ordinary and make it holy;

to take the charred remains of a life and make something beautiful out of it;
のこりの人生を使って何か素晴らしいことを生み出すために。
to take a spirit of heaviness and replace it with a garment of praise;
重荷を取払い、代わりに賛美を身にまとうために。
to take a natural person and make them a supernatural person;
普通の人をさらに霊的な人に変えていくために。
to take an empty vessel and fill it with the Holy Spirit.
空っぽの器を聖霊で満たすために。

God does all this through His Son Jesus who forgives and empowers his disciples, baptising them with the Holy Spirit and calling them to be regularly filled with the Spirit.

Experiencing this, who wouldn’t fall in love with God again?
これらのことを経験してみると、神様のことを好きにならずにはいられないと思いませんか？
6. He is always with you. 神はいつもあなたとともにいてくださる
This is the last thing Jesus said to His disciples before He departed. This is the great comfort. This is where we find true peace of God.
「わたしは、いつもあなたがたと共にいるのである」これはイエスが彼の弟子達に別れの時に言った最後の言葉です。最高の慰めです。神の真の平穏がここにあります。
But I want to tell you something that might sound like a contradiction to what I was just saying about empowerment.
しかし、このことは先ほど私が述べた「神はあなたに力を与えてくださる」ということとは少し矛盾しているかもしれません。
When you come before God in prayer, when you enter the presence of God by the provision of Christ, don’t seek empowerment.
祈りをもって神の御前に来るとき、キリストによって神の御臨在に入るとき、力が与えられることを求めないでください。
Don’t seek mere experiences. (Don’t resist empowerment or experiences of God! But don’t seek them as the first priority.)
神を体験することだけを求めないでください。しかし、力をもらうことや、神を体験することを抗ったりしないでください。優先的に、体験することだけを求めるのはやめましょう。
Just seek God. Just enjoy God. ただ神を求めてください。ただ神を楽しんでください。
Enjoy worshipping Him and being in His presence.
神を賛美すること。神の御臨在を楽しんでください。
Whoever wrote the shorter Westminster Catechism sure walked with God.
ウェストミンスター小教理問答を書いた人物は神を良く理解していた人でした。
It says, “The chief purpose of man is to enjoy God and worship Him forever.”
こう書いてあります。“人間の最大の目的は神を楽しみ、神を永遠に礼拝すること”
That’s it. That’s how we seek the Kingdom of God. And the reason we can enjoy God and worship Him always because He is always with us.
そうです。それが、神の義を求めるということです。私たちが神を楽しみ、賛美する理由は、神が私たちといつも供にいてくださるからです。
The empowerment and the experiences of God flow from His presence.
神がおられるところから力が与えられ、神を感じることができるのです。
Ephesians 1:3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ.

Enjoying this, who wouldn’t fall in love with God again?
神の御臨在を楽しんでみると、神様のことを好きにならずにはいられないと思いませんか？
7. He loves you. 神はあなたを愛している
God loves us as His children, as His heirs, as the bride of Christ, as new creations, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wing. But the image I really love about God’s love is in the Psalm where it says that we are the “apple of His eye”.
神は私たちを自らの子どもとして愛してくださいます。神の相続人のように。キリストの花嫁のように。新しい命のように。雌鳥（めんどり）が雛を羽の下に寄せ集め、抱きかかえるように。しかし、私が一番好きな、神の愛のイメージは、
詩篇に私たちを“ひとみのように見守り”と書いてあるところです。(Ps 17:8)
There’s real affection and cherishing there. It’s beautiful.

And God’s love for you is strong. We are taught that,

“neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Romans 8:38,39

Our response to this enormous, intimate, affectionate, lavish love of God is worship, expressed in thanks, praise and obedience.
この計り知れない親密な惜しみなく愛情あふれる神の愛に対する私たちの反応は、感謝と賛美と従順に表れる礼拝です。
I love the way it is expressed in Psalm 71 (14-18). Let these be my final words today:
