Isaiah 6:1-13
イザヤ書6:1-13
Introduction
The prophet Isaiah ministered from about 740 to 680 B.C.. For about 20 years, he spoke to both the northern kingdom of Israel and the southern kingdom of Judah. According to rabbinic literature, Isaiah was of royal descent. He was the son of Amoz, who was the brother of King Amaziah of Judah.
預言者のイザヤは紀元前740年から680年ごろまで活動していました。約20年に渡り、彼は北のイスラエル王国にも、南のユダ王国にも語りかけていました。ユダヤ教のラビニック資料によると、彼は王家の子孫でした。彼はユダ王のアマジアの兄弟であるアモズの息子でした。
King Uzziah was one of the few righteous rulers to occupy the throne of Judah. He was probably the prophet Isaiah’s close friend. His death may have shaken loose Isaiah’s notion that the world is someone else’s worry. Perhaps it was in such a moment of vulnerability that the Lord gave Isaiah a vision that redirected his life.
ウジア王は、ユダ王国の王座に就いた数少ない正義の支配者でした。そして彼はおそらくイザヤの一番親しい友達でもありました。ウジア王の死はイザヤの世界観を大きく変えました。彼が深く傷ついているこの時こそ、神様がイザヤに対して人生を変える様なあるビジョンを与えた時でした。
There are four (4) principles that pertain to us when it comes to God’s call to world missions.
神様から世界への布教活動を呼びかけられる時には4つの原則があります。

God uses events to direct us to His presence – verse 1
神様は様々な出来事を通して私たちに神様の存在を示されます
Isaiah was filled with grief at the woes that had befallen Jerusalem. As he groped for answers and the comfort of God, the Lord showed Himself in a vision.
エルサレムに降りかかった困難にイザヤが悲しんでいました。彼がその解決策と神様の癒しを求めていた時、神様はイザヤにご自分のビジョンを示されました。
Was God wringing His hands or pacing back and forth at the news of this terrible event? Not at all. With height comes perspective. He was sitting calmly on the throne in His place of authority, in absolute control.
神様はウジア王の死という悲惨な出来事に対して、手を揉み、そわそわしていたでしょうか？
そうではありません。高いところにいると見晴らしが良いのと同じように、神様はその高い御座に座り、完全に物事をコントロールしておられました。
We can plan our future and construct our life in any style we like. But, we can’t keep the winds of circumstance from blowing against us and direct us to the arms of the One who can bring comfort.
私たちは自分の将来や暮らしを自分たちの好きなように決める事ができます。しかし、私たちの状況を悪化させる逆風を妨げ、癒しを与えてくださる神様の元へ私たちを向ける事は出来ません。
Maybe, like Isaiah, it will be the loss of someone close to us. Or, maybe it will be the loss of a job, or the news of a devastating illness; perhaps a sudden move or a child’s accidental injury. Whatever it is, God will remind each of us that we cannot forget our need for Him. Our earthly situation will turn our eyes upward, and He will make His presence known.
おそらくイザヤと同じように、大事な人の死によるものかもしれませんし、仕事をなくしたことや、深刻な病の知らせ、急な引越し、子供の怪我かもしれませんが、何であれ、そのような困難な状況は私たちに神様の必要性を教えてくださるのです。この世における様々な状況は、私たちの目を天国へ向けさせ、神様の存在を知らせて下さいます。

God shows His character to make us see our need for Him – verses 2~7
私たちに神様の必要性を教えるために神様はご自分の性格を示されます
Isaiah came to the temple grieving, but he ended up worshiping as the greatness and holiness of God were revealed.
イザヤは悲しみに満ちて神のところに来ましたが、彼は神様の偉大さと神聖さにより、最終的には神様を賛美しました。
It would be hard to remember what you came for, once you’ve witnessed a piece of heaven. It’s interesting that Uzziah’s death isn’t mentioned again in the passage – it’s forgotten in Isaiah’s sudden spiritual sensitivity.
天国の一端を見てしまえば、自分が何のために悲しんでいるかを忘れてしまいます。ウジア王の死の話が再び言及されない事は興味深い点です。ウジア王の死は、イザヤの精神的な感受性によって忘れさられました。
Not long ago he’d been polished, elegant and self-satisfied. But now he sees the truth of his condition: “I am a man of unclean lips.” [The Message has this paraphrase: “I’m as good as dead! Every word I’ve ever spoken is tainted—blasphemous even! And the people I live with talk the same way, using words that corrupt and desecrate.]
その出来事の少し前までは、彼は洗練され、上品で、独りよがりの人物でした。しかし今では、彼には自分が置かれている状況の真実の姿が見えています。「私の口は汚れています。」言い換えれば次のような意味になります。「私は死んだも同然です。私が今までに話していた言葉は全て汚れていました。冒涜的な発言もあったかもしれません。そして私の周りにいる人々も同じように汚れた言葉を使って話しています」
When Isaiah confessed his sins, he mentioned especially his unclean lips. Of course, unclean lips are the products of an unclean heart.
イザヤが自分の罪を告白した時、彼は特に自分自身の汚れた口について言及しました。もちろん、汚れた口は汚れた心から生み出されたものです。
Isaiah did not think for a moment that this was his only sin, but he saw that this was an example of the great and incurable disease of sin in him and his people. And in the new awareness of his sinfulness, he feels condemned.
イザヤは一瞬たりとも自分の罪はそれだけだと考えてはいませんでした。それは自分やイスラエルの人々の、大きくて完治できない罪の一つであることに気付いていました。そして、その新しい気付きの元で、彼は自分の罪深さを宣告されたように感じました。
But, a seraph flew toward him:
しかし、彼のもとにセラフが飛んできたのです。
What is it that you struggle with? Your temper? Impurity? Insecurity? Unforgiveness? We can all agree to say with Isaiah, “Woe to me! I am ruined!” Yet, the good news is: God specializes in taking bruised, soiled, broken, guilty, and miserable people and making them whole, forgiven, and useful again.
あなたはどんなことに苦しんでいますか。自分の気質ですか？不道徳ですか？不安な気持ちですか？許す事のできない心ですか？私たち全員がイザヤと同じように「もうおしまいだ、破滅だ」と感じていると思います。しかし良い知らせがあります。神様は、傷付き、汚れ、罪深く、惨めな人々を受け入れ、彼らを完全に許し、再び素晴らしい姿に作り変える事が出来るのです。
This leads us to the 3rd principle.
これは私たちを三つ目の原則へと導きます。

God renews our hope to let us see our usefulness – verse 8
神様は私たちが役立つ存在であることを示すために新たな希望を与えてくださいます
The next scene takes Isaiah a step beyond affirmation to a sense of purpose.
次の場面ではイザヤは自分の目的意識をはっきりと確信しています
Now God can call Isaiah and use him to preach His Word. The prophet is no longer wrapped up in his own needs; he wants to do the will of God. He is no longer burdened by sin; he has been cleansed. He is no longer discouraged; he knows that God is on the throne. Now he is ready to go to work.
そして神様はイザヤに、御言葉を人々に伝える役目をお与えになりました。イザヤはもう自分自身の要求にとらわれず、神様のご意志の通りに動きたいと思うようになりました。彼はもう罪に苦しめられることもありません。彼は完全に罪から浄化されたのです。彼はもはや落ち込んでいません。彼は神様が王座につかれている事がわかったのです。そしてついに、彼は自分のミッションを行う準備ができたのです。
The call is an evidence of God’s grace. He is willing to use people to accomplish His will on earth. God certainly could have sent one of the seraphim, and it would have obeyed instantly and perfectly. But when it comes to proclaiming His Word, God must use human lips. God is still calling believers today but, few are responding.
この召しは神様の愛の証です。神様はご自分の意志を成し遂げるために、人々を喜んでお使いになられます。神様はもちろんセラフを使ってそのミッションを成し遂げることもできました。ししかし、人々に御言葉を伝えるには、人間の口を使わなければなりませんでした。今でも神様は信者に呼びかけていますが、その呼びかけに応えている人は殆どいません。
A one-legged school teacher from Scotland came to J. Hudson Taylor to offer himself for service in China. “With only one leg, why do you think of going as a missionary?” asked Taylor. “I do not see those with two legs going,” replied George Stott. He was accepted.
スコットランド出身の片足の教師であるジョージ・スたットが、ジェイ・ハドソン・テイラーのところに来て、中国へのミッションに行きたいと申し出ました。するとテイラーは、「片足なのになぜミッションに行きたいと思うのですか？」と聞きました。すると彼はこのように答えました。「両足があるのに行こうとする人がいないからです。」そして彼の望みは受け入れられました。
Didn’t our Lord Jesus say,
イエス様はこうおっしゃいました。

God reveals the truth to make us focus on reality – verses 9~12
神様は私たちが事実に目を向けるように真実を明かされます
Isaiah’s decision to commit himself to God’s service was far too important to be based on emotions alone. God disclosed to him these sobering words:
イザヤが神様のミッションに専念すると決意した事は非常に重要であり、感情だけで決断できるような事ではありませんでした。神様は彼にこのように伝えました。
God told Isaiah to go and preach to a people who wouldn’t respond, so that their guilt would be certain. What preacher could be satisfied with a ministry that made “the heart of this people calloused; make their ears dull and close their eyes”? Isaiah might not be satisfied with it. The people might not be satisfied with it. But God would be satisfied with it.
神様はイザヤに、言葉を聞こうとしない人々に伝道するようにと告げられました。そうすると彼らの罪は確かなものになるのです。どんな伝道師が「彼らの理解力をにぶらせ、耳を閉じ、目を見えないようにしなさい」というミッションに満足できるでしょうか？イザヤは満足していなかったでしょう。人々も満足していません。しかし神様はそれに満足していたのです。
God never unconditionally promises success. He doesn’t paint a rosy picture or make an offer too good to turn down. He is not looking for treasure hunters or social climbers; He is looking for an obedient heart. He is looking for people willing to stop pursuing what they think will make them happy to do what will bring Him glory.
神様は決して無条件に成功を約束されません。断るには勿体無い様な申し出をしたり、楽観的な状況を描いたりすることはありません。神様はトレジャーハンターや社会の階級を登りつめようとする人を探しているのではありません。従順な心を持った人を探しているのです。神様が探しているのは自分の幸せを求める人ではなく、神様に栄光をもたらす人なのです。
Isaiah asked God, “For how long, Lord?” This is a legitimate question from anyone who is given such a difficult commission.
イザヤは神様に次のように尋ねました。「どれぐらいの年月が必要でしょうか」これは、このような難しいミッションを与えられた人にとっては、もっともな質問です。
The answer? Preach until destruction comes.
その答えは？破壊が来るまで伝道しなさい、でした。
However, even though Isaiah’s ministry was difficult, it was not without hope.
しかし、イザヤのミッションは難しかったとは言え、希望が無いミッションではありませんでした。
Conclusion
When Isaiah walked out of the temple that day, he was no longer a mourner—he was a missionary. He was not merely a spectator; he was a participant. God had equipped him to do the job: Isaiah had seen the Lord, he had seen himself, and he had seen the need. Knowing that God was on the throne, and that God had called and commissioned him, he was ready to preach the Word and be faithful unto death. What an example for us to follow today.
イザヤがテンプルから出た時、彼は嘆く事なく、一人の伝道師になっていました。彼は傍観者ではなく、当事者になっていました。神様はイザヤがそのミッションをなす為に、彼に能力を授けました。イザヤは神様をみて、自分をみて、その必要性を見出したのです。神様が王座におられ、その神様が自分にこのミッションを任命して下さったことがわかったので、彼は死ぬまで忠実に神様の御言葉を伝えることを決意できました。
今日の私たちにとって、なんて素晴らしい前例なのでしょうか。
