When I was very small we used to play a game called ‘Follow the leader’.
私がとても小さかった頃 “リーダーに従う”というゲームでよく遊びました。
I don’t think kids today play it because it’s just too lame but basically someone would be nominated leader and everyone else would follow them single file over rocks and under fallen trees and through ponds and so on.
今日では子供達はそんな遊びはしないと思います。何故ならダサすぎますから。でも基本的に誰かがリーダーに指名されて他の人達はそのリーダーの後に従い、岩の上や倒木の下や池を通ってというような遊びです。
The basic premise of the game was that wherever the leader went, the others had to go, too.
そのゲームの基本的な前提は、リーダーが行く所には必ず他の者たちも行かなければならないというものです。
When the followers got tired of following and stopped, the leader effectively ceased to be a leader because there’s no such thing as a leader with no followers.
フォロワー達が付いて行くのに疲れて止まってしまうと、リーダーは実際上、リーダーではなくなります何故ならば、付いて来る者達がいないのにリーダーとは言えないからです。
Conversely, there’s no such thing as a follower, if there’s no leader.
逆に、リーダーかないならフォロワーもいません。
We continue our series on discipleship today with the understanding that – just like in the game ‘Follow the leader’ –
私達は弟子訓練のシリーズを続けています、今日はそのゲームのように‘’リーダーに従う‘’という事の意味の理解をしていきます。
if Jesus is our leader (Lord), then we follow Him. And if we stop following Him, then He ceases to be our leader (Lord).
イエスが私たちのリーダー（主）であるなら、従います。イエスに従うことをやめるなら、イエスは私たちのリーダー（主）ではなくなります。
As such, the essence of living a life of discipleship in Christ, is being Spirit-led in all we do.
キリストの弟子として生きることに欠かせないことは、私たちがすることすべてにおいて聖霊によって導かれるということです。
If the Spirit is leading and we are following, then we are living the life of a true disciple.
もし、その聖霊に導かれて私達が従っているなら、私達は真のキリストの弟子として生きているのです。
And that is our goal.
それが私達のゴールです。
So I feel that whatever is said in our course of study on discipleship and wherever we go with it,
I should preface every point and place on every slide that ‘Followers of Christ are Spirit-led’.
私達の弟子訓練の学びの中で述べられてる事は何でも、その流れにそって従う。
その流れにそってというのは、キリストに従う者は聖霊に導かれています・ということで、これがとても大事なことだと感じます。
Bobby Conway demonstrated this in the testimony he gives in his book ‘The Fifth Gospel’.
ボビーコンウェイさんはご自分の著書‘’５番目のゴスペル‘’の中に彼の証言でこれを実証しました。
He struck up a conversation with a neighbour.
彼はある近所の人と会話をはじめました。
A really nice guy. とてもいい感じの男性です。 Friendly. 気さくな。
Good community member.地域の良いコミュニティーのメンバーでした。
The only thing was his neighbour was openly gay and living with his partner.
ただ１つ問題は、彼の近隣は同性愛者で彼氏と住んでいました。
Many Christians today struggle in dealing with gay people.
多くのクリスチャン達は今日、同性愛者の人々との付き合いで苦心しています。
We tend to swing either to open-arms liberalism or to legalistic rudeness.
うでを広げて自由主義に傾くのか、または律法主義の無礼に揺れ傾くかです。
Conway said something insightful to his neighbour which allowed God to speak into his neighbour’s heart:
コンウェイさんはその隣人に、神の言葉が彼の心の中に届くように、思慮深く話しました。
“Unfortunately, most churches want people like you to agree with them on every point before they will accept you. But this is backward thinking. Jesus often accepted those He disagreed with.”
残念ながら、ほとんどの教会があなたを受け入れる前にすべての点で同意してもらいたいと思っています。しかしこれは考え方が反対です。イエスは自分に同意しない者をよく受け入れました。
This is Spirit-led conversation, and it enabled a friendship to grow.
これは聖霊の導きの会話であり友情の成長が出来るようになるのです。
Although Conway differed with him morally, he accepted him relationally.
コンウェイさんは道徳的には彼と異なっていましたが、交友関係に彼を受け入れました。
To cut a long story short, they never became great friends but they bumped into each other from time to time.
長い話を短く話ますと、彼らは決して親しい友達関係にはなりませんでしたが時々、偶然ばったり出会ったりしていました。
Conway never preached to his neighbour.
コンウェイさんは決して彼の隣人に説教はしませんでした。
Not that he was aware of anyway.
彼は説教などしていないと思っていました。
But his neighbour was being preached to through Conway’s behaviour.
しかし彼の隣人はコンウェイさんの行動を通して神の教えを解かれていたのです。
One day his neighbour came to his house and told him that he and his partner had started reading the gospel of John.
ある日、彼の隣人はコンウェイさんのお宅に行き、自分と彼氏はヨハネの福音書を読み始めたと言いました。
Conway almost choked on his coffee.
コンウェイさんは自分のコーヒーで喉が詰まりそうになりました。
In time, the neighbour fell in love with Jesus and in the end left his partner and later married a woman and they started a family together.
時に、その隣人はイエスの愛に触れ、彼氏と別れ、そして後に女性と結婚し、彼らは一緒に家族を築き始めました。
No-one is beyond the love of Christ.
キリストの愛が届かない人はいません。
Spirit-led interactions bring the light of Christ into the world.
聖霊に導かれた交流はこの世にキリストの光をもたらします。
What is Christianity? (Open question).
キリスト教とは何でしょうか？
The essence of Christianity is not morality or theological savvy or righteous living.
キリスト教の本質は道徳や神学的な精通や公正な生活ではありません。
These are all good and important.
これらは全て良くて重要なものです。しかし、 But the fundamental essence of Christianity – the thing that makes Christianity stand far apart from every other religion or ideology – is the belief that Jesus of Nazareth was God in the flesh and died on a cross and was resurrected to new life.
キリスト教の根本的本質－他の宗教や観念形態に比べてひと際立っていることは、ナザレ人イエスが人となられた神であり、十字架の上で死なれ、新しい命によみがえったことを信じていることです。
Do you believe it?
あなたはこのことを信じますか？
Do you really believe it? Do you really, really believe it?
あなたは本当に信じますか？本当に本当にこのことを信じますか？
Because the assurance of this truth – or lack of it – in your life will determine the nature of your discipleship.
なぜならあなたの人生においてこの真理の確信、又はこの真理の欠如があなたの弟子であることの本質を決めるからです。
You cannot be a Spirit-led disciple if you are not convinced of the resurrection of Jesus.
You can only be a Spirit-led disciple if you are convinced of the resurrection of Jesus.
イエスの復活を確信していなければ、聖霊に導かれた弟子にはなれません。
イエスの復活を確信していて初めて聖霊に導かれた弟子になれるのです。
We live in a world of pluralism where tolerance is the new absolute truth.
私たちは多信仰の許容範囲の広い世界に住んでいます。
As such, you would most likely have heard some, if not all, of these statements:
全てではなくても、これらようなの声明を耳にした事があるでしょう。
“It doesn’t matter what you believe as long as you’re sincere.”
誠実で有る限り何を信じるかは問題ではない。
“As long as it works for you and makes you happy.”
自分が幸せならそれで良い。
“There is no such thing as ultimate (or absolute) truth.”
究極又は絶対的な真理などというものはない。
“I believe there are many ways to God.”
私は神に通じるには沢山の方法が有ると信じている。
“It’s rude to say that one person’s religion is better than another’s.”
ある人の宗教が他の人の宗教より優れていると言うのは失礼だ。
It takes everyone’s truth to equal the truth.”
真理が平等となるようにみんなの真理をとる。
“What makes you think your religion is right and everyone else is wrong?”
なぜあなたの宗教が正しくて他の人達が間違っていると思うのですか？
How would you respond to these statements?

You know what, God does all things well except for one.
神はある事意外は、全ての事を行います。
Do you know what it is?
それは何か分かりますか？
[God does not] Share His glory.
神は栄光を分かち合うことはなさいません。
The Israelites were not punished primarily for immoral behaviour or slightly erroneous theology.
イスラエル人達は主に不道徳な行為、またはわずかに誤った神学のために処罰されたのではありませんでした。They were punished for pluralism.
イスラエル人は多信仰のために罰せられました。
For worshipping other gods alongside their worship of the one true God.
イスラエル人は、神に礼拝するだけでなく他の物々にも拝んでいました。
God is a jealous God and He won’t be shared.
神は油断の無い神であり、共有されることはありません。
That’s why I go to lengths to explain to Japanese people that if they love Jesus that is so wonderful but they can’t be a Buddhist and a Shintoist and a Christian at the same time.
だから私は日本人のみなさんに分かっていただきたいのです。もしイエスを愛するならとても素晴らしです。しかしクリスチャンであるのと同時に仏教徒や神道であることは出来ないのです。
It’s Christ or it’s nothing. キリストかそうでないかのどちらかです。
When it comes to worship and discipleship, it cannot be Jesus and…
礼拝や弟子訓練をするならイエスと他の宗教….は礼拝出来ないのです。
Sadly, some do not love Jesus enough to leave their other religions or comforts or pleasures.
悲しい事に、他の宗教や肉的な気楽さや楽しみを残す事でイエスを充分に愛せない人達がいます。
If there were any doubt as to the exclusive nature of the Christian claim listen to what Peter said:
もし、何かキリスト教の本質に疑問があるならペテロが言っている事を聞いて見て下さい。
“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12
使徒４章１２節
この方以外には、だれによっても救いはありません。天の下でこの御名のほかに、私達が救われるべき名は人に与えられていないからです。
Listen to what Paul said:
パウロがこう言っています。
“There is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people.” 1 Timothy 2:5
テモテへの手紙第一２章５節
神は唯一です。また神と人との間の仲介者も唯一であって、それは人としてのキリスト・イエスです。キリストは全ての人の購いの代価として、ご自身をお与えになりました。
Listen to what Jesus said:
イエスはこう言っています。ヨハネの福音書14章６節
“I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
わたしは道であり真理であり命です。私を通してでなければ、だれひとり父のみもとに来ることはありません。
To the world, this is a supremely arrogant teaching. And it is.
世間では、これは最高に傲慢な教えです。そしてその通りです。
Except for one thing: it’s the truth. It is the absolute truth.
それは傲慢ですが、それが本当の事です。それは絶対的な真実なのです。
We live in a world where the voices of pluralism are very loud and very frequent.
私達は、とてもやかましくて様々な多信仰の声が飛び交う世界に住んでいます。
As pluralism creeps into our thinking we become missionally impotent.
多信仰の考え方が私たちの頭の中に入ってくると、宣教をしないようになってしまいます。
Why share Jesus if there could be other ways or we’re not fully convinced?
もし、他の方法があるならまたは私達が完全に確信していないなら何故イエスは（私達と互いに分かち合う）共有するのですか？
How could we love a God who put His own Son through the shredder when there was another way of securing our salvation?
私達の救いを守る別の方法があったのなら、自分の息子をシュレッダーに差し出した神を、
私達はどのように愛する事が出来るのでしょうか？
Doubts are not necessarily bad.
疑問は必ずしも悪くはありません。
They can show that we are thinking, struggling with big issues.
それらは私達が考え大きな問題に苦しんでいるのを示す事が出来ます。
The key is that we fight to overcome our doubts.
要するに私達の疑問を克服するために戦うのです。
We do this by putting on the armor of God – go to Ephesians 6.
私達はエペソ人への手紙６章にある神の鎧を付けるのです。
Coming back to what Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
わたしは道であり真理であり命です。私を通してでなければ、だれひとり父のみもとに来ることはありません。
とイエスは言いました。
To the world, this is a supremely arrogant teaching. And it is.
世間では、これは最高に傲慢な教えです。そしてその通りです。
The only way “through Jesus” is by denying ourselves, taking up our cross daily and following Him.
“イエスを通る“ただ唯一の方法は、自分自身を打ち消すことです日々私達の十字架を背負い、神に従いましょう。
We deny ourselves by loving God more than we love ourselves.
私達は自分自身を愛するよりも、もっと神を愛すことで自分自身を打ち消すのです。
This is demonstrable in the way we live our lives.
これは私達が生活する中にその生き方で実証されます。
We take up our cross by giving up the things in our lives that come between us and God, and by taking up the things of God in love and obedience to Him.
私達と神の間で私達の人生の中にある物事を見放す事によって私達の十字架を背負い、そして神の愛にある物事を得る事によって神に服従するのです。
We follow Jesus by being Spirit-led in all we do.
私達が行う全ては聖霊の導きによってイエスに従うのです。
Once again Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”イエスは言いました“わたしは道であり真理であり命です。私を通してでなければ、だれひとり父のみもとに来ることはありません。
Jesus proved the truth of this when He died on the cross and rose again on the third day.
Christian discipleship is defined by belief in this statement and a commitment to live according to it.
イエスは十字架の上で死に、3日目によみがえったとき、この真理を証明してみせました。
クリスチャンの弟子とは、このことを信じること、それに従って生きる献身によって定義されます。
Before you worry about standing out for Jesus, first learn to sit before Him.
Watch how you live because others are.
Jesus was willing to die for you. Are you willing to live for Him?
イエスのために生きていこうとすることを心配する前に、まず御前に座ってみてください。
人が見ているから、生き方に気をつけなさい。
イエスはあなたのために自ら死んでくださいました。あなたはイエスのために生きる意思はありますか？
