If there’s one thing we can surely all agree on it’s that we want to live a happy life, right?
But what does a happy life look like?
もし私たちが１つ意見が全て一致するものがあるとするならそれは幸せな人生を持ちたいと思うことではありませんか？
でも幸せな人生ってどのようなものなのでしょう？
‘Noise/test pattern clip: no such thing! Some people believe there is no such thing as a truly happy life and they live by this belief. They believe the most practical way to live is to just make do with what you’ve got. Life is merely an exercise in damage control. No time for this childish happiness nonsense.
そんなことあり得ません！ ある人達は本当に幸せな人生みたいなものがあると信じていない人達がいます、そしてそんなものは無いと思って生きています。
そういう人達はただ自分達が与えられたもので人生を生きるのだと信じています。
人生とはただ傷ついた箇所を調整して過すと思っているのです。こんな子供っぽい幸せのたわごとに時間をかけるつもりはありません。
Sound of Music clip. Some people believe that happiness is about twirling on a mountain top. As long as you’re feeling happy, nothing else matters. There are no responsibilities, no challenges to face, no hardships to overcome, no particular achievements or purposes to fulfil. And it certainly doesn’t mean much if it’s just a happy moment and then when you come back down the mountain you’re back on antidepressants. Just feeling happy can actually be deceptive.
ある人達は幸せとは山の頂上をクルクルと駆け巡るようなものと信じています。
幸せを感じている以外は何も他に無いでしょう。何の責任もなく、何の直面するチャレンジもなく、苦労を乗り切ることもなく、何の成果もなく、何の成し遂げる目的もない。
もし、それが単なる幸せの瞬間だけなら確かに何の意味もいりませんでもその幸せの絶頂から降りてくるとき、薬に戻らなければなりません。
ただ単に幸せを感じる事が出来るだけというのは実際的には見かけと中身が違います当てにはなりません。

For others, living a happy life centres around pure luck, or family, or health, or food or success, or friends…
その他の人達は純粋な運、家族、健康、食べ物、成功、友人、、、等の周りに幸せな人生を過します。
It’s worth pointing out that most of the things I’ve mentioned are actually good things. Things like family and health and romance and twirling on a mountain top can be gifts from God and used well can bring a lot of happiness. But the thing is, they produce situation-based happiness not heart-based joy. I can’t imagine Julie Andrews twirling in prison. The joy of family life only goes so far at work. If health brings you happiness then does that mean you cannot be happy if you’re unhealthy?
私が述べた殆どが良いものであると上げる価値はあります。
家族や健康、ロマンス、があり、山の頂上でくるくる回る事が出来るようなものは神からの贈り物かも知れません上手く使えば沢山の幸せがくるはずです。
しかし、それらは状況にあります感情は心の喜びの基本ではありません。
私はジュリー アンドリュースさんが刑務所で駆け巡っている姿は想像できません。
喜びのある家族生活だけでは行く先々の場に喜びはありません。もし、健康が幸せをもたらすなら、健康でなければ幸せになることは出来ないという意味なのでしょうか？
If happiness is simply situation-based emotion then our happiness can only ever be as great as our circumstances and will always be limited by our circumstances.
幸せが単に状況に基づいた感情であるなら、その状況に応じた幸せだけにすぎないだろうし、その状況に限られたものだけになるだろう。
God wants you to live a happy life. God is the giver of a happiness. But most people seek happiness instead of seeking God. And that’s where they miss the mark.
神はあなたに幸せな人生を送ってもらいたいのです。神は幸せを与えて下さる御方です。
でも殆どの人達は神を探し求める代わりに幸せを探し求めるのです。そしてそれが的外れなところなのです。
Ultimately God doesn’t just want you live a happy life, He wants you to live a blessed life.
最終的には神はただ幸せな人生を送ってほしいと思っているのではなく、祝福された人生を送ってほしいと願っているのです。
Today I would like to show you how to live a truly blessed life – one that enables you to have, not just happiness, but lasting joy in your heart regardless of your situation. The apostle Paul writes about this in his letter to the Ephesians (1:3-5):
今日、私は本当に恵まれた人生とはどのようなものなのかをお見せしたいと思っています。
恵まれた人生とは、心の状況にかかわらず、心が持続的な喜びを持つというのを出来る様にするのです。
使徒パウロはこれについてエペソ人への手紙（1:3-5)の中に書いています。
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in the heavenly realms with every spiritual blessing in Christ. For he chose us in him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his sight. In love he predestined us for adoption to sonship through Jesus Christ, in accordance with his pleasure and will.

Identity アイデンティティー（本質、個性、正体）
Whether we think about it much or not, we all take on an identity. The way we think, behave and look all reflect our answer to the great questions ‘Who am I?’, ‘Of what value am I?’ and even ‘What’s the point of living?’
私たちがアイデンティティーについて沢山考えるかあまり考えないか、私たちは全て個性を持ちます。‘自分は何者なんだろう？’ ‘自分に何の価値があるのだろう？’ ’何のために生きているのだろう？’とうい疑問に私たちの答えが私たちの考え方や振る舞いに現されます。
Some people take on the identity of their job like a teacher or a businessman. For others, their identity has to do with their passions or hobbies like being a sportsman or an artist. Others still find their identity in their role, like being a parent or a leader. I know for many in Japan their identity is found in being ‘futsuu’ (ordinary). Sadly, some shape their identity around their weaknesses or failures, seeing themselves as a loser, as someone who is hopeless, someone who is wounded, and even as someone who is sinful or dirty.
ある人達は彼らの仕事の教師やビジネスマンの様な個性を持ちます。その他の人達は、自分達の情熱や趣味で行わなければならないスポーツマンや芸術家のような個性を持ちます。
ある人達はそれらの役割りによって個性があります、親の立場やリーダーの立場のような。
私は日本では多くの人が”普通“でいるのが個性（アイデンティティー）であると思われているというのを知っています。
悲しいことに、それらの個性は彼らの周りの弱さや、失敗で形つけ、敗者のように自分自身を見て絶望的な人のように、負傷した罪深い、汚れた人のように彼らの個性（アイデンティティー）を作り出す人達がいます。
But none of those identities are who you were created to be. You might be a gifted teacher or a devoted mother and you might even be a dirty sinner but that is not the primary identity that God created you to have.
しかし、そのようなアイデンティティーを持つようにあなたは創造されたのではありません。教師として、若しくは献身的な母親として賜物が与えられているかも知れません、汚れた罪人かも知れませんが、しかしそれは神があなたを創造した根本の本質（アイデンティティー）ではありません。
Your identity, your destiny, your purpose is to be a child of God.
あなたのアイデンティティー、運命、人生の目的は神の子となることです。
I know that might sound pretty odd in social circles to introduce yourself (like this slide) as a child of God but that is fundamentally – more than anything else – who you were created to be. And this understanding is important because it is the foundation upon which a truly blessed and happy life is built.
公共の場で（このスライドのような）自己紹介に神の子供ですとあなた自身を紹介するのはかなりへんだと思っていると思いますが、基本的に、他の何よりもあなたが神の子供になるように造られたのです。そしてこの理解は重要なのです何故なら、真の恵み、幸せな人生は神の子供であるという基盤に築き上げられるからです。
The apostle John said: Yet to all who did receive him [Jesus Christ], to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God. John 1:12,13
使徒ヨハネは言いました：
しかし、彼を受けいれた者、すなわち、その名を信じた人々には、彼は神の子となる力を与えたのである。
13 それらの人は、血すじによらず、肉の欲によらず、また、人の欲にもよらず、ただ神によって生れたのである。
We become the children of God when we receive Jesus Christ into our lives. This is when the blessed life starts.
イエス・キリストを受け入れるとき、私たちは神の子となるのです。これが祝福された人生の始まりです。
The blessed life continues when we understand who this Jesus was, what he taught and what he achieved. This is all about
このイエスキリストが誰であるのかイエスが成し遂げたこと、イエスが導いたことを私たちが理解するとき恵まれた人生は続くのです。
2. Grace 恵み
The apostle Paul continues:
使徒パウロは続けます：
In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace that he lavished on us. Ephesians 1:7
わたしたちは、御子にあって、神の豊かな恵みのゆえに、その血によるあがない、すなわち、罪過のゆるしを受けたのである。 エペソ人への手紙 1:7
There is a lot to unpack just from this simple verse but let’s focus on the forgiveness of sins because this is what Jesus came to do and what he achieved for us. When Jesus died on the cross as the perfect Son of God, he paid the penalty for our sins. Only a perfect person could pay for the sins of another. We call it the Great Exchange.
このシンプルな聖句からたくさん解釈していくものがありますが、罪の赦しを焦点を合わせて解いていきましょうと言うのもこれはイエスが何の為にこの世に来て私たちの為に何をして下さったのかを知るために。神の完璧な子供としてイエスは十字架にかかって死にました、私たち人間の罪に彼は代償を払ってくださいました。
完璧な人だけが私たちの罪の為に代償する事が出来るのです。私たちは偉大なる代償と言います。
The Bible says, “God took the sinless Christ and poured into him our sins. Then, in exchange, he poured God’s goodness into us!” 2 Corinthians 5:21 LB
聖書は語っています、
神はわたしたちの罪のために、罪を知らないかたを罪とされた。それは、わたしたちが、彼にあって神の義となるためなのである。
This means that when we choose to repent of our sins and put our faith in Jesus Christ, there is no more guilt, there is no more sin, there is no more condemnation upon our lives. There is only grace. It doesn’t matter what you have done or how bad you’ve been, when you are in Christ, you are forgiven, clean, pure, righteous, regenerate, a brand new person.
この意味は、罪を悔い改め、イエス・キリストを信じる決心をするとき、罪悪感、罪、罪に定められることはありません。ということです。恵みがあるだけです。
あなたがキリストにあるとき、あなたは赦され、清められ、純粋で、正しく、再生し、真新しい人間になるのです。あなたがどんな事をしてどのように悪いことをしてきたかは関係ありません。
This transforms our lives because not only are we completely forgiven but we are able to completely forgive others who have hurt us.
これは私たちの人生を変えることです。なぜなら私たちが完全に赦されただけでなく、私たちに傷つけた人たちを完全に赦すことができるからです。
So not only do we live in freedom from our own sins, but we also live in freedom from the bitterness of not forgiving others. So many people live in prisons of unforgiveness. Bound up by things in the past, reliving the hurtful words and actions of others. Unforgiveness is soul cancer.
私たち自身の罪から解放され自由に生きるだけでなく、また赦せない人達への自分の中にある苦味からも解放され自由に生きる事が出るのです。
多くの人々は赦せないことで自分が作った殻の中にいるのです。過去の物に縛られ、他人の行動や人を傷つけるような言葉を何度も思い返すのです。
赦さないというのは、魂の癌です。
But in Christ, we are free from that. Jesus teaches us to pray ‘Father, forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us’.
でもキリストにあって私たちはそれらから自由になるのです。イエスは私たちに父なる神に祈ることを教えています、
わたしたちに負債のある者をゆるしましたように、わたしたちの負債をもおゆるしください。
We live under grace, not condemnation. Likewise in our lives we extend grace to others, not condemnation. This is liberating and it is the essence of living a blessed and happy life.
私たちは恵みの下にに生きているのであって、罪に定められていません。同じように私たちは人を罪に定めるのではなく、恵みを差し伸べることができるのです。
これが解放された祝福と幸せな人生を送ることの本質なのです。
If I couldn’t demonstrate the truth of this then it’s just feel-good teaching. But we know this is true because three days after dying, Jesus resurrected from the dead. Normal people can’t do that. He was seen alive again by as many as 500 different people, some of them who were previously haters of Jesus who then completely changed their lives when they encountered Him alive. Jesus then returned to heaven and gave His Holy Spirit to lead us, which takes us to our third and final means of living a blessed life:
もし私がこの信実を実証出来なければ、それはただの良い話になるだけの教えになります。でも私はこれは本当のことだと知っています何故なら亡くなって３日後にイエスは死から復活されたのです。普通の人々はそんなこと出来ません。彼は500人以上の異なる人々によって彼の復活を目撃されました、その中の何人かはイエスを嫌っている人達もいました、そして生きているイエスに出会い彼らの人生が完全に変えられた人達もいました。
イエスはそのご天国へ帰り彼の聖霊が私たちをリードするように与えてくださいました、それは私たちの３度目のそして祝福された人生を得る最後の手段なのです。

3. Inheritance 相続
Continuing with what Paul wrote to the Ephesians:パウロがエペソ人への手紙に書いている続きです。
You also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory. Ephesians 1:13,14
あなたがたもまた、キリストにあって、真理の言葉、すなわち、あなたがたの救の福音を聞き、また、彼を信じた結果、約束された聖霊の証印をおされたのである。
14 この聖霊は、わたしたちが神の国をつぐことの保証であって、やがて神につける者が全くあがなわれ、神の栄光をほめたたえるに至るためである。
Even in Western countries, most people don’t know what a Christian is. Here’s a quick quiz.
欧米諸国でさえ多くの人達はクリスチャンって何なのか知りません。ここにクイズをします。
A Christian is: クリスチャンとは
Someone who believes in God and does good to other people.
神を信じ、人に良いことをする人
Someone who regularly goes to church, reads the Bible and prays to God.
定期的に教会に行き、聖書を読み、神に祈る人
Someone who annoys other people by stopping them in the street and asking them if they’ve been washed in the blood of the lamb.
道を歩いている人を捕まえて、子羊の血によって洗われているかと聞くような人
Someone who believes that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, has received Him as their Lord and Savior, and lives as He did.
イエス・キリストが神の御子であると信じ、自分の主、救い主として受け入れ、キリストが生きたように生きる人
The answer is d). The other options are all things that Christians do (well, hopefully not all of them!) but they do not make a person a Christian.
答えは d) です。 その他のもの全てのことがらはクリスチャンはします（それらの全てではありませんが）でもそれらが人をクリスチャンにさせるのではありません。
The final verses of this section of Paul’s letter to the Ephesians state the Christian gospel very clearly. And in doing so it concludes how it is that we live a blessed and happy life.
パウロがエペソ人への手紙で書いたこの部分の最後の言葉に非常にはっきりとキリスト教の福音を述べています。そしてそうすることで、私たちがどのように祝福され幸せな人生を送るのか結論付けています。
You hear a message about Jesus Christ like this one you’re hearing now.
今聞いているようなイエス・キリストについてのメッセージを聞く
You believe what you hear about Jesus Christ being the only way to have your sins forgiven and about His resurrection from the dead.
イエス・キリストが罪が赦される唯一の道であり、死からよみがえったことを聞いて、信じる
You receive the Holy Spirit of God who marks you as a child of God, and guarantees your inheritance.
神の子と印され、相続を保証してくださる神の聖霊を受け入れる
Before I finish, let’s take a look at what this ‘inheritance’ means. It doesn’t mean you’re going to get a lot of money when you die. (And what would be the point of that?!) But it does mean that we inherit something from God and not just when we die.
終わる前にこの”相続”とは何かをみてみましょう。死ぬ前に大金をもらうという意味ではありません。でも私たちは何か神から相続しますそしてそれは私たちが死ぬ時だけではありません。
The inheritance from God has to do with hope for the future and power for today.
神からの相続は未来の希望、今日の力とも関係しています。
Our future is eternal life in heaven. That’s the promise of Jesus:
私たちの未来は永遠に天国にあるのです。それはイエスの約束なのです。
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
神はそのひとり子を賜わったほどに、この世を愛して下さった。それは御子を信じる者がひとりも滅びないで、永遠の命を得るためである。
But the inheritance is also for today. The Holy Spirit gives us peace, comfort, guidance, teaching, assurance, discernment, wisdom, power and joy to live a blessed and happy life.
相続はまた今日のものでもあります。聖霊は私たちに平和、安らぎ、導き、教え、保証、
分別、知恵、力、喜びに生き、祝福と幸せな人生を与えてくれます。
This year we have been focussing on the Kingdom of God.
今年私たちは神の御国に焦点を当てています。
The kingdom of God and the kingdom of this world are two completely different kingdoms.
神の御国とこの世の王国とは全く別のものです。
One is seen, the other is unseen. 一方は見えますが、もう一方は見えません。
One a kingdom of sight, the other is a kingdom of faith.
一方は見える国ですが 、もう一方は信仰の国です。
One is a kingdom of pride and self-sufficiency, the other is a kingdom of grace, love and power.
一方は高慢と自己満足ですが、もう一方は恵み、愛、力の御国です。
One is evil, the other is good.
一方は悪ですが、もう一方は義です。
Life is short. I wouldn’t want to waste a single day not living under grace and love in the Kingdom of God.
人生は短いです。私は一日も神の御国にある恵みや愛に生きない無駄な日を過したくありません。
The apostle Peter, the first head of the church, said to a crowd of people,
教会の第一人者、使徒ペテロが大勢の人々に言いました、
“Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” Acts 2:38-39
すると、ペテロが答えた、「悔い改めなさい。そして、あなたがたひとりびとりが罪のゆるしを得るために、イエス・キリストの名によって、バプテスマを受けなさい。そうすれば、あなたがたは聖霊の賜物を受けるであろう。
39 この約束は、われらの主なる神の召しにあずかるすべての者、すなわちあなたがたと、あなたがたの子らと、遠くの者一同とに、与えられているものである」。
And that’s my invitation to you tonight. Don’t waste another day by not living under the grace and love of God. Repent and be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ, receive the Holy Spirit and enter eternal life. Here’s how:
ですので、今夜これが私のあなたへのお招きです。神の恵みと愛の下で住まない無駄な日を過してはいけません。悔い改めそしてイエスキリストの御名によって洗礼を受け、聖霊と永遠の命を授かりましょう。

Let me explain the elements of communion.
The bread and the wine are symbols of the body and blood of Jesus Christ and taking them marks a person’s entrance into and surrender to the body of Christ and the life of His church. If you have never taken communion before or haven’t for a long time but tonight would like to commit or recommit your life to Christ, I invite you to come forward with the others and receive prayer and the elements.
聖餐式のパンとぶどう酒の説明をしましょう。
パンとぶどう酒はイエス・キリストの体と血の象徴で、それらを受けることによりキリストの体とキリストの教会生活に入り、ゆだねることを示します。今までに聖餐式を受けたことがないけれども、今晩、キリストに人生をゆだねたい、または長いことあずかっていないけれども、もう一度キリストに人生をゆだねたいと思う方は、いっしょに前に出てきて祈ってもらい聖餐にあずかってください。
Take a moment to examine your lives, to give your lives to God, and when you are ready, please come forward.
